The
Masters
Program 2008 is an intensive Buddhist education inspired by
the geshe studies programs in traditional Gelug monastic universities,
and taught by
a fully-qualified
Tibetan teacher assisted by
experienced
Western staff.
Organized by the
FPMT,
it is a uniquely inspiring and fulfilling way for both ordained
and lay Buddhists to learn and practice the Dharma. It takes place
at
Lama Tzong Khapa Institute,
Pomaia, Italy, in the heart of the
Tuscan
countryside.
The full-time
residential
program Masters Program - five days a week, nine months a year
- consists of six years of study and
a total
of one year of retreat.
The
FPMT
Masters Program On-line - a distance learning program
that makes use of modern internet technology - enables people to
study the texts in parallel with the residential students from the
comfort of their own homes.
The Masters Program is an excellent
opportunity for an in-depth study of texts related to both
sutra
and tantra, that is unlike any other Tibetan Buddhist education
program existing today.
The Masters Program is the culmination
of the
FPMT's Buddhist
education program and is intended to train qualified non-Tibetan
Dharma teachers.
The course of study begins mid-January
2008 and ends
mid-December 2013. Students
who successfully complete the entire program and wish to obtain
the final
Masters Program
Certificate must then pass the final comprehensive exam and
complete a total of twelve
months of retreat.
Applications
for admission to the residential Masters Program 2008 can be submitted
up to one month prior to the beginning of each subject.
